Bulk SMS · SMPP & SMS gateway
SMPP and SMS gateway connections for high-volume senders.
If you send large volumes, run your own messaging platform or resell SMS, an SMPP connection lets your system talk to our SMS gateway directly over a persistent connection, instead of making a web request for every message.
What’s included
What SMPP & SMS gateway covers
- 01
SMPP account setup
Connection details and credentials for your SMPP client, configured for your account and sender IDs.
- 02
Kenyan network reach
Messages routed to Safaricom, Airtel Kenya and other Kenyan networks through the same gateway as our Bulk SMS platform.
- 03
Delivery receipts
Delivery reports returned over the connection, so your platform can update message status.
- 04
Sender ID management
Your registered alphanumeric sender IDs available on the connection.
- 05
Connection testing
We test the bind, sending and delivery receipts with your team before you go live.
- 06
HTTP API as an alternative
If SMPP is more than you need, the same account can send over our HTTP API instead.
How it works
Three steps, no jargon.
- 1
Scope
Tell us your expected volumes, traffic type and the SMPP client or platform you use.
- 2
Connect
We set up your account and share connection details, then test with your team.
- 3
Send
Move traffic over once tests pass, and keep an eye on delivery receipts in your platform.
What you get
- An SMPP connection to the Ndovubase SMS gateway
- Connection credentials and settings for your client

- Billing at the published rates or a quote for your volume
A good fit for

What is SMPP?
SMPP (Short Message Peer-to-Peer) is the standard protocol messaging systems use to exchange SMS with gateways and networks. It keeps a connection open, so it suits steady, high-volume traffic better than sending one web request per message.
Should I use SMPP or the HTTP API?
Most businesses should start with the HTTP API: it’s simpler to build and enough for campaigns, alerts and OTPs. SMPP makes sense when you already have an SMPP-capable platform or send high, continuous volumes.
How is SMPP traffic priced?
At the rates on our pricing page by default. For large or recurring volumes, contact us for a quote.
Do I need a sender ID first?
Yes. Messages go out under a registered sender ID, so we register yours during onboarding if you don’t already have one with us.
